the two-job route dlkgndklgn though tbh the things i do voluntarily i don't consider them a job?? i realize that fulfilmment shouldn't be filled by on thinG ! we often find ourselves better in constantly surprising ourselves abt ourselves thru others <333
thanks for this, bia! i will bookmark dem articles. it's nice to be reminded that getting lost isn't necessarily bad. sometimes, i feel lost, especially when i'm reminded of my decision to not pursue my masters anymore even if im a thesis manuscript away from getting that title. but i think it's still better that way. eme.
i agree that being content and ambitious are not mutually exclusive. im currently ambitious in improving my knowledge and skills in film criticism and im at peace with that. i wouldn't be here if i just followed the strict and suffocating path to my masters.
thank u for the articles ! rly strange how corrosive the idea of ambition has become, mostly because it is founded on fear (fear of poverty, of failure). we seek advancement in power, wealth, and status in any field because the alternative is literally homelessness, starvation, and alienation bc of how stratified class has become and how,,, cruel people can be to those they perceive as the lower class.
i always love imagining what work and ambition looks like in a more egalitarian society. imagine if you're not under the constant threat of starVING, and the divide between rich and poor isn't as wide as it is now. ambition wouldn't be a mechanism for survival or a privilege for the educated. we wouldnt have to worry if our hobbies can pay the bills. we just get to do stuff we want and strive to be good at it.
was having a conversation with one of my friends who came back to spain, but in a more conservative city, she teaches adults and one of them asked if she worked in restaurants in spain and back home because shes young (shes more established than us for sure 🤣) so for us we see it as like r*cist assumption but ppl here respect the hustle. its a job that pays tha bills.
anw i Agree thay ambition is foundednon FEARHSHSHS. i hate it back home bec of this reason. so the conclusion is lets all live in spain 😭
